If your video is still a draft, you can usually save it without a watermark: go to Profile, tap Drafts, open the draft, tap More, and choose Save to device. TikTok's current help article says drafts saved this way have no watermark by default. If you've already posted the video, saving it from the share menu may add the TikTok logo and your username. The cleanest fix then is to export your original clips again. Only if the saved TikTok is the copy you have left do you need to remove the watermark from it.
Which situation are you in?
| Your video | What to do | Watermark? |
|---|---|---|
| Still a draft, and the menu shows Save to device | Drafts → open the draft → More → Save to device | None by default, according to TikTok |
| Still a draft, and the menu shows Save post with watermark | That option adds the watermark. Check your draft settings, or update the app and look again | Yes, by default |
| On the edit screen, not posted yet | Tap Share and pick one of the save options. Read the option label before you tap | Depends on the option you pick |
| Already posted, and you still have the clips you filmed | Export again from your camera roll or editing app | None |
| Already posted, and the TikTok copy is all you have | Share → Save video, then clean your own copy | May include the logo and your username |
| No save option on your own post | Check Privacy → Downloads, then try again | Depends on the save path |
Why TikTok's help center gives two answers
TikTok has two help articles about saving drafts, and they disagree.
- The newer article, How to save TikTok videos to your device, says a draft "will be saved to your gallery with no watermark by default," and that you can turn the watermark on in your draft settings if you want it.
- The older article, Download content, describes a Save post with watermark option and says that to save a draft without a watermark, "you need to post it first."
Both pages were live as of November 3, 2026. App features often roll out gradually, so the menu on your phone is the best guide. The label tells you which behavior you have: Save to device is the newer, watermark-free path, and Save post with watermark means the older behavior. If you see the older label, updating the TikTok app may bring the newer option, so check again before you post.
How to save a draft without the watermark
- Open the TikTok app and tap Profile at the bottom.
- Tap Drafts.
- Tap the draft you want to save.
- Tap More at the top.
- Tap Save to device.
TikTok says the video goes to your gallery without a watermark unless you turned the watermark on in your draft settings first. Play the saved file once before you delete the draft, so you know you have a clean copy.
How to save before you post
On the edit screen, tap Share and choose one of the save options TikTok shows you. TikTok's help article doesn't list the option names, and they can change between app versions. Read the label: if it mentions a watermark, that copy will have one.
If you plan to post the same video on Instagram Reels or YouTube Shorts, this is the best moment to save it. You keep your edits, captions, and effects without the logo, and you don't have to fix anything later.
How to save a video you've already posted
TikTok says any video you posted publicly or as unlisted can be saved to your device:
- Open the video.
- Tap Share, then Save video. You can also press and hold on the video and tap Save video.
TikTok's help pages say saved videos "may include the TikTok watermark and creator username, depending on the creator's settings," but they don't name the setting. Expect the logo and your @username on this copy. They usually jump to a different corner partway through the video, and some saved videos end with a short branded clip.
No save option on your own video?
TikTok has a Video downloads setting: Profile → Menu ☰ → Settings and privacy → Privacy → Downloads. It mainly controls whether other people can download your posts. TikTok says that when it's off, "you'll still have the download and sharing options available for your own content." If you still can't find the option, update the app and check that the video isn't private.
Already posted and the watermark is on it
Work through these in order:
- Look for the original clips. Check your camera roll, the project in your editing app, and cloud backups such as Google Photos or iCloud. Exporting from the original gives the sharpest result, because every save compresses the video again.
- Check your drafts. If you saved a draft before posting, it may still be in Drafts. Save it with Save to device.
- Clean the copy you saved. If the TikTok copy is all you have, upload it to our TikTok watermark remover. The AI follows the logo and username frame by frame, including when they change corners. It's for videos you created or have permission to edit. Any video up to 60 seconds uses 1 credit, and you can watch the result before you download it.
- Trim the end screen. The branded clip at the end is a separate scene, not an overlay, so watermark removal won't turn it into your footage. Cut it off in your phone's video editor before uploading.

What to skip
- Cropping the logo out. The watermark moves between corners, so a crop cuts off part of your frame and still misses the logo for part of the video.
- Screen recording. It lowers the quality and can capture on-screen buttons.
- "No watermark" download sites for other people's videos. This guide is about your own videos. The watermark shows who made a video, and removing it from someone else's TikTok to repost it can infringe their copyright. To share another creator's video, use TikTok's share, duet, or stitch features, or ask the creator.
FAQ
Can I save my own TikTok without a watermark after posting?
TikTok's help pages say a saved post may include the watermark and your username. If you still have the draft or your original clips, save from those instead. If the posted copy is the only one you have, you can remove the watermark from your own video with a tool built for moving watermarks, then trim off the branded end screen.
Why does my draft save with a watermark?
Your app may show the older Save post with watermark option, which adds it by default. The newer Save to device option saves drafts without a watermark unless you turned it on in your draft settings. Update the TikTok app, open the draft again, and check which option you see before you save.
Does saving a draft post it to my profile?
No. Saving a draft to your device only copies the video file to your phone's gallery. The draft stays in your Drafts folder, unposted, until you publish it. Keep the draft until you've played the saved file and checked that it looks right.
Can I save someone else's TikTok without the watermark?
Only the creator can decide that. TikTok lets creators turn downloads off, and a saved copy of someone else's video may carry their watermark and username so viewers know who made it. Don't remove it to repost their video as yours. Use TikTok's share, duet, or stitch features instead, or ask the creator for the file.
