Keep the Moment, Not the Logo

Newborn proofs often carry a repeated studio name or PROOF text across the frame. Drag the slider to see how the AI rebuilds the photo underneath.

How to Remove a Watermark from a Newborn Photo

  1. Ask for the clean file first

Check your gallery, your order email, and your package. A clean file from your photographer is the true original, with nothing rebuilt.

  2. Upload a photo you have the rights to

If a clean file isn't available and you own the photo or have permission to edit it, drop it into the tool above.

  3. Check the details, then download

Compare before and after at full zoom. Look closely at skin, fine hair, and knit textures before you download.

Start with Where the Photo Came From

Who can help depends on who took the photo. A session photographer can usually send a clean file or release the download in their gallery. A hospital photo service handles its own orders, so use its order page or customer support. A photo a relative took and watermarked is theirs to share, so just ask them for the original.

Don't Assume Your Download Has the Mark

Many client galleries add the watermark only to the images you see on screen. SmugMug, Zenfolio, and ShootProof all say purchased downloads delivered through them don't carry a watermark added with their tools, and Pixieset says the same of high-resolution files. Open your downloaded file before you edit anything. It may already be clean.

Made for Soft, Detailed Portraits

Newborn portraits are full of soft skin, wispy hair, and textured blankets, so a repeated watermark can cross fine details. The tool is designed to detect text and logo overlays and rebuild what's beneath them. Results vary, so a mark over a sleeping baby's eyes or lips deserves a careful look at full zoom.

When Families Use a Newborn Photo Watermark Remover

The studio has closed

You paid for a newborn session, the photographer can't be reached, and a marked copy is all you have left.

The gallery is gone

Newborn galleries can be short-lived. If yours has expired and you're allowed to edit the copy you saved, you can still keep it safe.

Birth announcements and albums

Your photographer has given you permission to edit, and you need a clean version for a card, frame, or baby book.

Photographers recovering their own work

Lost the exports from an old newborn session? Remove your own mark from a saved copy to rebuild your portfolio.

Before You Edit a Newborn Photo

These steps can save you an edit, and they give you the best file to work from if you still need one.

Download early

Pic-Time's help center suggests that photographers keep newborn and portrait galleries online for just one to three months (checked November 2026). Save the files your package includes as soon as you get the link.

Check the pixels for birth announcements

At the 300 pixels per inch that many photo labs recommend, a 4×6 card needs 1,200 × 1,800 pixels and a 5×7 needs 1,500 × 2,100. If your file is much smaller, ask your photographer for a larger one.

Choose photos without marks on the face

If you have several shots from the same session, start with one where the watermark misses the eyes and mouth. Those are the hardest areas to rebuild, and the first place anyone will look.

Get permission in writing

A short email from your photographer saying you can edit a photo is easy to save with your order. It also gives you a clear answer about what your package covers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I remove a watermark from my baby's newborn photos?

Yes, if you own the photo or the photographer has given you permission to edit it. Paying for a session or print doesn't automatically give you that permission, so check your contract or ask. If you haven't bought the photo yet, please order it from your photographer.

Is it legal to remove a watermark from newborn photos?

It depends on your rights to the photo. Copyright exists from the moment a photo is created, and the photographer often holds it even when you're the one in the picture, or your baby is. Use this tool only with your own photos or with permission. We can't give legal advice, so ask a lawyer if you're unsure.

My photographer closed their business. What can I do?

Start with your contract, receipts, and old emails, then try every contact method you have. Keep a record of your attempts. If you own the photo or your contract gives you the right to edit it, you can use this tool on the copy you have. Our guide to missing photographers covers the other steps.

What if my newborn photos came from a hospital photo service?

Go back to that service first. Use its order page or customer support to ask what you bought and how to download it, and search your email for the order confirmation. Those companies take and sell their own photos, so they're the right people to fix a missing file or an expired link.

Will the AI change my baby's face?

It's designed to rebuild only the area under the watermark. Even so, that area can include your baby's eyes, lips, or hair, and rebuilt details won't be identical to the original. Compare before and after at full zoom. If the result doesn't look right, don't download it, and ask for the original file instead.

Can I use this on a screenshot of a gallery photo?

Please don't use a screenshot to get around a gallery's download settings. It's usually low resolution too, so it won't print well. Use your gallery's download option or ask your photographer. This tool is for files you already have the rights to edit, like a marked copy of a photo you own.

What happens to my baby's photo after I upload it?

Your photo and the cleaned result are stored encrypted and deleted automatically within 24 hours. We don't use them to train AI models, and we never sell or share them. Our service is for parents and guardians, not children under 13, and we use the photos you upload only to deliver your result.
